*Back at the Last Man Standing compound, I was in my villa going over some notes and stuff. Even some strategy guides for football games. Considering I was now the Head Coach of the Las Vegas Does. A proud achievement. As I am sifting through things, there is a knock on the door. I wasn’t expecting any visitors but I got up and answered the door. Standing there with a notebook, a young brunette woman smiling as I open the door.*
Woman – “Mister Spencer? Jacoby Spencer?”
*I smile and nod.*
“Yes that is me. What’s up?”
*She smiled broadly.*
Woman – “Well Mister Spencer, my name is Leslie Hellmuth and I work for the Ring Insider. A lowkey professional wrestling and entertainment publication and I am wanting to do a quick little story on you and your life at the moment. Would you mind having a quick little sit down with me?”
*I nod and open the door further allowing her to enter. As she does, I close the door behind her and quickly shift into the room and clean up all the paper I had scattered everywhere.*
“Sorry about the craziness. Have a seat and let’s get this thing going.”
*She sat down near the desk and pulls out a recorder and relaxes some as I find a seat and sit across from her.*
Leslie – “Alright, I am here with Jacoby Spencer, known in the professional wrestling world as the New York Jackass. First of all Jacoby, how are you doing?”
“Well Miss Hellmuth, I am doing pretty good. Just going over some stuff.”
Leslie – “That is good. First off I’d like to know what is going on in the professional world for you right now?”
*I chuckle.*
“Honestly not a whole lot. I have my gym in Philly and my original gym in New York and I am training several young kids coming up in the business.”
Leslie – “What do you do exactly at your gym? I have been asked a few times about it but I have never really been informed as to what you train and teach at your gyms.”
“Well I teach them MIxed Martial Arts skills, primarily grappling skills. I also teach them promo skills. Microphone skills. How to be creative and speak correctly while promoting yourself and your upcoming event or fight. I also have a team of in ring specialists that can and do teach some of those that wish to learn different aerial skills and high flying maneuvers.”
Leslie – “Any company that you are part of right now? I haven’t heard of any that you are in, at least over the last six or seven months.”
“As of right now, I am not on any active rosters of any company. I am just floating around in the ether as they say.”
*She jots down some things in her notebook.*
Leslie – “Okay. So I wanted to come and talk to you primarily about this Last Man Standing competition you are a part of. Is that okay?”
*I simply nod.*
Leslie – “So the Last Man Standing, was formerly known as the World Series of Wrestling, correct?”
*Again I nod.*
Leslie – “First off, what brought you to this competition?”
*I take a couple of seconds before responding.*
“Well I was invited. I received this Golden Ticket one day that formerly invited me to this thing that would take me out in the middle of nowhere and pit me against other professional wrestlers and other stars from all around the world. I saw it as an opportunity to get some recognition outside of the fight game and the training world. So I jumped on it.”
Leslie – “What has the competition been like since you got here and started it?”
“Well it was filled with some drama from the beginning. It started off as a team competition. My team, the Blue Team was a very strong and formidable team. We kicked off with a couple of wins. Now we are in the nitty gritty part of this thing. The individual portion where we are all fighting it out in whatever competition is lined up for ourselves. It has been a fun honestly. I’ve enjoyed the time I’ve spent here. I hope, for selfish reasons, to get my name out there outside of just a strange and weird guy that fights like a psycho in the ring. Outside of the world of training fighters and professional wrestlers. I also want to show the world that I am more than what I have shown on the tweet tweet machine too.”
Leslie – “How would you describe your presence on the social media platforms?”
“Well the truth is, I am a bit wild there. A bit eccentric. Maybe a little bit of a hopeless romantic too. I promote my stuff and other wrestling promotions all around the world on that thing too. Other than that I have kept to myself though.”
Leslie – “Alright. So let’s get back to Last Man Standing.”
“Alrighty. What would you like to know”
Leslie – “Well what might be your expectations of the future of this event? The current one you are a part of as well future events of this type? Would you be a part of them? Would you encourage some of your students to be a part of it if they are invited?”
“Wow! That’s a lot.”
*We both chuckle lightly.*
“Well as for this year’s event, I would love nothing more than to win the whole thing. I don’t go into something without the want and desire to win it. Whether it is a fight. A tournament. A foot race. I know that I do have my work cut out for me in this considering the competition that is here. But I want that victory. It would be one hell of an accomplishment to add to my wall of fame. As for the future of the event itself. I look forward to see what Saucey and others come up with and I would love to be a part of it again. Yes I would encourage my students to compete and join up if they did get invited. Now, if I was to be a part of the future of this event, whether as a competitor or some other capacity, I would absolutely love to do it. I love this business and I love when some of us come up with these events and things that are not strictly wrestling and fighting.”
*She again jots some things down in her notebook.*
Leslie – “Well Mister Spencer it has been an honor to sit and chat with you. I look forward to seeing what you accomplish here and in the wide world of wrestling.”
“Awe, all done eh? Well it was an honor to be a part of your publication.”
*She clicks off the recorder and disposes of it in her purse and rises to her feet as do I. I walk her to the door of my villa and open it for her. We shake hands.*
Leslie – “Thank you again Jacoby for your time.”
“Not a problem ma’am. Look forward to seeing the article come out.”
Leslie – “I’ll send you a copy of the edition of the magazine when it comes out. Thank you again, good luck in Last Man Standing.”
*She steps out and walks away. I shut the door and go back to doing what I was doing.*
Woman – “Mister Spencer? Jacoby Spencer?”
