EPISODE 2 - #BREAKINGNEWS
(Cherry Cola replaced Ragnarok, Brooke Blakely was voted off her team and joined the Red Team, Martina Richards was removed from competition)

RECAP
After the exhilarating victory of the blue team in the heart-pounding "Leap of Faith" Challenge, the competition in "Last Man Standing" heats up as we dive into Challenge #2. Things are far from conventional in this underground contest that promises unlimited riches, born from the ashes of the wrestling world's most ambitious brand, THIS IS AWESOME PROMOTIONS.
The sun continues to grace the luxurious LMS Compound, a fantasy gem, hidden in time and space, offering pristine beaches, infinity pools, fine dining, and adult entertainment fit for the elite. This tropical paradise holds its secrets close, though many contestants have uncovered its coordinates, thinking they're at different places and times. In reality, the LMS Compound is a realm amongst itself, existing everywhere and nowhere, a wrestling utopia rich with opportunity.
The aftermath of the "Leap of Faith" Challenge just a couple weeks ago left more questions than answers about what to expect for the rest of the competition. The field of fourteen challengers, working on limited information, were at the mercy of the show’s host, the Sauce Boss. He stepped forward, stoic and measured.
The blue team had won the day, the prize was theirs to keep, but that wasn’t the end of the story. The teams were sent home on their shuttles with a heavy choice to make, ‘Which team do you choose to be on for the rest of the competition?’
There was no time to celebrate for the blue team, even though they had won an excursion to the Kayfabapalooza Music Festival. There was no guarantee that their team would remain together. Cracks had already formed in the team hierarchy when Jacoby Spencer put forth a motion to kick Brooke Blakely from the team. Would he do it again? And who would be the scapegoat in the inevitable case that the Blue Team DOES lose a challenge? The offer to switch teams is a stark reminder that this is still an individual competition and that each player’s fate is in their own hands.
So, what did they choose? Let’s just go ahead and jump right into it.

THE WAR ROOM
“The Distinguished” CJ O’Donnell walks with a cup of coffee in his hand, a ‘Dirt Water Coffee Shop’ logo on the front of the cup.
O’Donnell: This coffee is horrendous … it tastes like it was made from muddy puddles…”
CJ tosses the half-filled coffee into the trash as he stands outside the War Room.
O’Donnell: A fitting name for a room. It’s time to go to war … now let’s see who shows up.
CJ enters the well-decorate conference room and takes a seat at the left side of the table. He waits patiently, watching the door to see who else from the red team decides to show up. Eventually, it’s Nick Danger. Nick looks at CJ and speaks his piece.
Danger: So, CJ, it’s nice to finally meet you for a chance to talk one-on-one.
O’Donnell: Well, I’m glad someone has the balls to show up. Not really happy with the results of the last competition. We could have done better. We should have done better. The blue team got lucky. And I am no quitter. Somebody was wise enough to put me on this Red Team and that is where my loyalty lies. Can you say the same?
Danger: I’m here to show the world that they shouldn't look down on me. I know I failed on the first challenge. And that just made me mad at myself because not only did I fail the team but I failed myself. I didn’t perform to the best of my ability. Somebody said I’m the team leader because I was the first person to be put on the team. I don’t know if I deserve that role, but I bleed red. And I’m glad there’s another person who bleeds red with me on this team. As long you got my back, then I got yours too, Caleb.
Nick extends his hand looking for a handshake from Caleb. CJ looks down at Nick's hand stoicly, examines the form of the man, and accepts the code of honor between the men.
O’Donnell: Let’s hope you’re a man of your word.
With those words hanging in the air, the room goes silent. Then there’s a loud click of the door handle turning, and the War Room door opens again. A third member of the team. But who? Selena Frost? Daniela Raye-Weathers? Maybe a defector from the Blue Team? A mystery figure enters the room.
O’Donnell: Alright. Let’s go! I hope the Blue Team is ready to go to WAR …

NEW TEAMS REVEALED
They arrive one by one in the lobby of the LMS Compound, each revealing their chosen team by the color of their uniform. Fresh chocolate chip cookies, coffee, and all means of unnecessary breakfast calories waiting in the lobby for consumption.
Surprisingly, Cherry Cola is the first to arrive. She’s either fully embraced the competition and woke up early or she never went to bed at all. Her normally vibrant personality has lost some of it’s sparkle at this early hour, but she’s wearing makeup… and underwear… blue underwear… which says something about her character. She eye-f*cks a cherry Danish and marches over to the breakfast table in her bold blue uniform. Pardon me, her CHERRY BLUE uniform. In typical Cherry fashion, she exudes obnoxious confidence, setting the tone for what is to come.
BLUE TEAM: CHERRY COLA
RED TEAM: NONE
Zara Ivory follows shortly after, her soft-spoken demeanor contrasting with Cherry's exuberance. She, too, had chosen her original blue uniform, which is no surprise, as she’s been very open about loyalty and faith being her two strongest qualities.
BLUE TEAM: CHERRY COLA, ZARA IVORY
RED TEAM: NONE
Eli Buchanan and Penelope Plimmswood arrive together, both still sporting their blue uniforms. The athletic build and striking appearance of Buchanan is captivating. On his arm is our resident ‘spooky’ girl, Penelope. Her enchanting aura continues to be a welcome addition to the galvanized blue team.
BLUE TEAM: CHERRY COLA, ZARA IVORY, ELI BUCHANAN, PENELOPE PLIMMSWOOD
RED TEAM: NONE
The early risers exchange excited chatter, wondering which foolish challenger will be the first to open the united front of the Blue Team. Maybe nobody will show up in a red uniform and they can just win by default. And maybe if frogs had balls they wouldn’t hop so much. The ‘family’ reunion ends when the saucey Aussie known as Jessie Lee appears in a fire-engine red uniform, her tattooed arms and confident demeanor accessorizing her bold look. She’s followed by cocksure CJ O'Donnell, also in red. He’s just a few steps behind her and has the swagger of a silverback on payday. The two of them are imposing adversaries that command attention.
BLUE TEAM: CHERRY COLA, ZARA IVORY, ELI BUCHANAN, PENELOPE PLIMMSWOOD
RED TEAM: JESSIE LEE, CJ O'DONNELL
Crystal Hilton, a vision of glamor, trots in, modeling her red uniform, blowing a kiss at her teammates and sucking her teeth at the despicable blue team. If she’s lacking any confidence, she isn’t showing it. Nick Danger, the daredevil of the bunch, sneaks in nonchalantly, with black sunglasses over his face, and without any additional fanfare. He too, wears a red jersey, fulfilling the promise he made to CJ O’Donnell a day before.
BLUE TEAM: CHERRY COLA, ZARA IVORY, ELI BUCHANAN, PENELOPE PLIMMSWOOD
RED TEAM: JESSIE LEE, CJ O'DONNELL, CRYSTAL HILTON, NICK DANGER
That’s four to four with just a little over half of the teams present. Only Jacoby Spencer, Candice Wolf, Daniela Raye-Weathers, Selena Frost, Brooke Blakely, and Martina Richards are left to arrive.
The Blitzing Beauty known as Daniela Ray Weathers arrives next. Predictably, she’s still donning a uniform red. Daniela has proven to be the rock of the team. Consistent. Dependable. Amicable. The heart of soul of the squad. She stops to examine the room and tally the number of blues and the number of reds. Then a figure walks around her, accidentally bumping her left shoulder. The image of Brooke Blakely, in a red uniform spins around, palms up, in apology, but still part of the Red Team. The two birds of different feathers, but they are fighting on the same side. Brooke appears to be embracing her new role, looking Instagram ready is a cut red outfit, after being ‘forced’ to switch allegiances. Her presence continues to spark mixed responses among her new (and former) teammates.
BLUE TEAM: CHERRY COLA, ZARA IVORY, ELI BUCHANAN, PENELOPE PLIMMSWOOD
RED TEAM: JESSIE LEE, CJ O'DONNELL, CRYSTAL HILTON, NICK DANGER, DANIELA RAYE-WEATHERS, BROOKE BLAKELY
Candice Page, and Jacoby Spencer arrive at the lobby of the LMS Compound. And to little surprise of the room, they both wear blue. Candice Page, radiates power and confidence, modeling her blue uniform like the badass business mogul momma she is. Her top is now sleeveless and tied at the bottom to reveal a flat stomach. Jacoby Spencer, the de facto leader of the team, wears his uniform with pride, trimmed by various gothic accents. Black fingernails, black lipstick, and eyeshadow. Usually men in make-up is laughable, but the look just works for Jacoby, and the experience just wouldn’t be the same without his war paint.
BLUE TEAM: CHERRY COLA, ZARA IVORY, ELI BUCHANAN, PENELOPE PLIMMSWOOD, CANDICE PAGE, JACOBY SPENCER
RED TEAM: JESSIE LEE, CJ O'DONNELL, CRYSTAL HILTON, NICK DANGER, DANIELA RAYE-WEATHERS, BROOKE BLAKELY
The final person to arrive is Selena Frost, but she’s wearing neither red nor blue. She’s dressed up like Trinity from the Matrix in a full body black pleather outfit with a zip up black pleather trench coat. Rayban glasses on her face. All eyes in the room are on her. Whichever team she picks will be at seven members, giving them at least a tie in roster size. Selena Frost on the Blue Team would make them a formidable force for the rest of the competition. Selena in Red would display her strength of character and dedication to the team that brought her to the dance. So, which is it?
“Red or Blue? The Matrix can’t tell you who you are. You must decide that for yourself. You’ve made your decisions. This is mine…”
Selena pinches the tab of her trench coat jacket and slowly unzips it from the top. Each tooth revealing more and more of her plunging neckline, until….
…a red spaghetti string tank top is revealed underneath.
Selena quickly unzips the rest of the jacket and chucks it away onto the floor. “I took the red pill! Come and get it you blue turkeys!”
The rest of the Red Team charges Selena and swarms her in a team hug. The Blue Team, larger in numbers, seems unimpressed, but secretly they feel just a little rejected. The familiar tune of ‘Titanium’ begins to play on the intercom speakers, but there’s still a notable absence from the teams. Martina Richards, the name on everyone's lips, is nowhere to be seen.
~~~~~~~~
The energy rises into a crescendo until the shuttle buses materializes out of what appears to be a warp in reality. Then, the voice of Synthia, the program director behind the show, fills the air. She clears her virtual throat before delivering a prepared statement to the gathered challengers.
"Welcome, challengers, to the LMS Compound," she announced with a hint of artificial cheer. "Today will be your second challenge. Before you board your team vehicles, please listen to the following prepared statement.”
"Ladies and gentlemen, the absence of MARTINA RICHARDS must be addressed. While we pride ourselves on the unpredictability of our challenges, this particular twist is a result of unexpected events that unfolded behind the scenes.”
“Four days ago, Martina Richards, boarded an unsanctioned and untested vehicle for her travel and has officially been lost in time and space. While these events are unfortunate, please take solace in the fact that Kayfabe Airlines was in no way involved in this isolated incident. The travel agency responsible for the incident is a competitor that goes by the name of ‘Mark Industries.’ Be assured that all of your travel on Kayfabe Airlines is safe, sanctioned, and has been approved by the United States Federal Aviation Administration.”
“Martina has officially been removed from competition and will not be joining us moving forward. In the event of Martina’s miraculous return to the ethereal plane, we’d like to wish her the best in her future endeavors. We salute you, Martina Richards, wherever and whenever you may be.
…
…
And now… please make your way to the shuttle buses, where Chik-Fil-A and donut holes are waiting for you to consume while you continue your totally safe journey.
RULES
SAUCEY: Challengers, welcome to your second challenge. As you’ve already heard, Martina Richards won’t be joining us for the rest of the competition. While that saddens me to my depths of my soul, it brings me great joy to see each of you still wearing the same colors you departed with the last time we met. Unlike my lying succubus of an ex-wife, when given the choice to switch teams, none of you jumped teams. And you have my appreciation for that. So, let’s just stop for a moment and give yourselves a round of applause for that. It gives me faith in humanity to see that loyalty and team spirit are still alive and well.
The contestants, dressed in color coordinated team uniforms, stand with excitement, at the location of today’s event… Allegiant Stadium, the sprawling home of the Las Vegas Raiders. With a high domed ceiling, bright lights, and flashing screens in all directions, the two teams stand on the vibrant green turf of the east end zone. A partially obscured obstacle course waits ominously behind their host.
SAUCEY: Today, you’ll be competing in a challenge that will test your strength, endurance, speed, and cunning. This challenge is called ‘BREAKING NEWS’ and is a tribute to all the thankless peers that cover the world of professional wrestling. They work tirelessly to cover the deeds and accomplishments of athletes of all skill levels, for low pay, little recognition, and loads of negative attacks. There are no championships for sports reporters. No gold medals for show hosts. No hall of fame for promoters. This challenge… is for THEM.
SAUCEY: Here are the rules. This is a relay race. At the 10-yard line, and every 10 yards beyond that, you will see a blue wall and a red wall. One at a time, you will sprint to a wall and break through it with the tools provided at that station, before sprinting back to the end zone and tagging in your next teammate. Since there are 10 walls, some of you will have to run twice. For the Red Team, it’ll be three of you. For the Blue team, it’ll be four of you. Once you break through all ten walls, you will run back to the start line and your entire team will sprint the length of the field to the opposite end zone. Your time will only be stopped once every member of your team crosses the goal time. Sound good?
The teams clap and cheer ready to take on the challenge.
SAUCEY: Great. This race will be run at the same time. It is up to you to decide the order. But before we get started, why don’t we hear about the prize for the winning team. Shall we?... Today’s winning team will win an excursion unlike any other. For 5 straight days, each of you, and a guest will sail the seas on the most prestigious vessel ever built. Retrofitted with modern technology and with amenities fit for royalty, you’ll cruise in style on a once in a lifetime voyage. The prize for todays event, is a trans-atlantic cruise on… The Titanic.
SAUCEY: Trust me when I tell you that you do not want to miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity. Now, a bit of a formality. I want to remind you of the rules of our competition. There’s only one rule. DO NOT QUIT. Destiny quit on behalf of Martina Richards, and I’ve heard chatter about one more of you wanting to leave shortly. DO… NOT… QUIT. You quit on this event, you’re quitting on your team, and you’re quitting on yourself. Do not let them bring you down and stop you from achieving your potential. You belong here. And there’s no way to seize an opportunity if you aren’t even hear to see it. That’s all I’ll say about that matter. So, what do you say? Who’s ready to break some news?
CHALLENGE #2 - #BREAKINGNEWS
BRRRRTTTT!!! The airhorn blasts and the two teams take off.
Wall #1
As the starting whistle blew, Jacoby Spencer of the Blue Team and Selena Frost of the Red Team dash towards the 10-yard line. Waiting for them was a wall made of foam blocks and a foam battering ram. The faster of the two, Selena Frost, is the first to the wall. She stops to pick up the foam battering ram and lines up to plow it through. Jacoby Spencer bypasses his ram and just flies shoulder first at the blue wall, punching a few blocks through the middle. It takes a moment for him to regain his footing and clear through it, but he manages to do so quickly, and loops around the rubble to sprint back to the goal line. Frost makes quick work of her wall as well, needing a smaller hole to climb through, but still burdened with the extra time to navigate the ram. She sneaks through and is back towards her team in short time. The next challengers are tagged in.
Leader: Blue Team (Jacoby Spencer) 6 seconds over Red Team (Selena Frost).
Wall #2
Candice Page takes the tag and is the second challenger running for the Blue Team. She hurries off to the second wall which appears to be made of dozens of sheets of cardboard. A box cutter and safety gloves waits for her at the base. After testing the durability of the wall and making a few test slashes, it’s clear that this wall will take much more effort than the foam wall. VooDoo is hacks and slashes like a God of War, but is taking up too much time. Following behind her is Daniela Raye-Weathers who’s taking a different tactic, cutting a large round hole rather than shredding through the middle. Candice has the lead when she punches through the final layer, but she loses the box cutter through the hole in the process. Panic sets in as she starts ripping at the wall with her bare hands, trying to make enough room to jump and squeeze through. By the time she actually does so, Daniela has cleared her final layer and is through the wall at a near tie. They sprint back to the goal line just steps apart.
Leader: Blue Team (Jacoby Spencer, Candice Page) 1/2 second over Red Team (Selena Frost, Daniela Raye Weathers).
Wall #3
CJ O’Donnell (Red team) and Penelope Plimmswood (Blue Team) take off towards wall #3, this one constructed of wooden planks. The tool is a full-sized sledgehammer. CJ overtakes Penelope in the 30-yard foot race and looks all too happy to take up the construction tool. His swings are powerful, causing planks to splinter and explode, his words foul and bold with every blow. Penelope does her best to keep pace but is struggling with the weight of the hammer. It’s just not the kind of tool built for her skill set. Under different circumstances, she’d probably just employ some ‘spooky sh*t” to make her way to the other side, but Saucey was clear when he said that the challengers need to BREAK through the wall. It’s called #BREAKINGNEWS not #SPOOKYTELEPORTINGSH*TNEWS. From where the teams are standing there was no way of telling what each wall is made of or what tools are available. Penelope just got a bad draw, but she’s making the best of it. O’Donnell is the first through his wall, bat flipping the hammer as he cockily flexes on the struggling Plimmswood and prances out in front with a commanding lead. He’s all the way back to the start line by the time Penelope breaks enough boards to squeeze through her wall.
Leader: Red Team (Selena Frost, Daniela Raye Weathers, CJ O’Donnell) 10 seconds over
Blue Team (Jacoby Spencer, Candice Page, Penelope Plimmswood)
Wall #4
Approaching the Red Team's 40-yard line, Jessie Lee gets eyes on the plywood wall and the electric chainsaw resting right next to it. A smile emerges on her face like a heartstruck romantic being reunited with a long lost lover. She gives the trigger a test spin, sticks out her pierced tongue, and gets to work with the whirring chainblade. She skillfully cuts into the plywood, clearly something she’s either done or dreamed of before. By the time Eli Buchanan gets to the blue wall, Jessie Lee is almost done. Eli picks up the chainsaw and gets to work without paying any attention to the lethal woodworking being done at his opponent’s wall. He’s doing a fine job, but Lee had a head start and is a master of this device. Eli gets through his obstacle in good time, but Jessie Lee is almost back to her team by the time she starts to run.
Leader: Red Team (Selena Frost, Daniela Raye Weathers, CJ O’Donnell, Jessie Lee) 9 seconds over Blue Team (Jacoby Spencer, Candice Page, Penelope Plimmswood, Eli Buchanan)
Wall #5
Brooke Blakely is hot out of the gates towards the 50-yard line, where a wall of cinderblocks awaits her. This time, she has the choice between using a jackhammer or a sledgehammer. Brooke has little idea on how to use the power tool, is a little scared by it, and just starts swinging her hammer instead. It’s a poor decision. Zara Ivory seizes the opportunity to make up ground and picks up the jack hammer. She starts pounding on the wall and it easily punches its way through. Blakely panics as she notices the ease in which Ivory was able demolish her wall and discards the sledgehammer to pick up her own jackhammer, shedding any fear she previously had. Zara Ivory is through the blue wall and back to the start line with a massive lead by the time Brooke is sprinting back.
Leader: Blue Team (Jacoby Spencer, Candice Page, Penelope Plimmswood, Eli Buchanan, Zara Ivory) 6 seconds over the Red Team (Selena Frost, Daniela Raye Weathers, CJ O’Donnell, Jessie Lee, Brooke Blakely)
Wall #6
Cherry Cola sprints off towards the other 40-yard line and goes ass-over-teakettle, faceplanting just 10 yards from the starting line. But she’s up quick and moving at a moderate pace towards her wall. It’s fairly obvious that she’s either injured or gassed out or suffering from a hangover after the 60-yard sprint. To her relief, the blue wall is only made of woven wicker. However, she’s only given a pair of scissors to cut her way through. Cherry Cola, the former hairdresser, is a master of the tool, but appears to be insulted by the situation. Like it was intentionally designed to slap her in the face. She holds her contempt in reserve, set on sending a strongly-fisted letter to an intern later on, but she gets to work on her wicker wall. Trailing behind Cherry is Crystal Hilton for the Red Team. She appears neither fast nor motivated to perform at the event and takes her own time cutting at the wall. Makes you wonder what’s distracting her. The two of them take much longer than expected, but Cherry is through first and Crystal actually makes up time by the time she’s done. Both of them looked winded on the jog back to their teams.
Leader: Blue Team (Jacoby Spencer, Candice Page, Penelope Plimmswood, Eli Buchanan, Zara Ivory, Cherry Cola) 7 seconds over the Red Team (Selena Frost, Daniela Raye Weathers, CJ O’Donnell, Jessie Lee, Brooke Blakely, Crystal Hilton)
Wall #7
Jacoby Spencer is off the line for his second run, this one 70 yards away, and made of strands of barbed wire. He picks up the bolt cutters and gets to work cutting the wires, but having trouble finding the right technique. The final member of the Red Team, Nick Danger is off the line for his team and is sprinting towards his wall a high speed. Once at his wall, he too has trouble finding the technique to cut the wires. Eventually, Jacoby gets the hang of it and the wires start springing loose like ribbons popping off a Christmas present. He makes just enough room to squeeze his body through the barbed wire spider web, turns the corner, and is sprinting back to this team, a little bloodied, and moderately proud of his performance. Danger is just having all kinds of trouble. And soon it becomes apparent that he’s working through some sort of hand injury. The grit and determination he shows to finish his task and still hoof it back to his team speaks volumes about his character, but he’s definitely cost them some time. He tags with his opposite hand, shaking off his injury, visibility in pain after the run.
Leader: Blue Team (Jacoby Spencer, Candice Page, Penelope Plimmswood, Eli Buchanan, Zara Ivory, Cherry Cola, Jacoby Spencer 2), 7 seconds over the Red Team (Selena Frost, Daniela Raye Weathers, CJ O’Donnell, Jessie Lee, Brooke Blakely, Crystal Hilton, Nick Danger)
Wall #8
Candice Page makes the 80-yard dash to wall number 8, picks up a claw hammer and safety glasses and goes right to work on the wall that’s painted blue. This wall features a series of tempered glass panes set in smaller and smaller frames. Any normal person would take a moment to consider the safety of the task, but not Candice. Just like with the boxcutter at the cardboard wall, she just smashes and smashes. At the other wall, Selena Frost is taking the same approach. Smashing and smashing with glass shards flying like snow flakes, both women appear to be having fun with the task. Candice clears the glass out of the final frame and steps up to climb through. She snags her shirt in a spot but goes through otherwise unscathed. The snow queen, Selena Frost has a similar experience and executes a flawless run through the glass wall. She turns the corner and sprints off to catch Candice Page.
Leader: Blue Team (Jacoby Spencer, Candice Page, Penelope Plimmswood, Eli Buchanan, Zara Ivory, Cherry Cola, Jacoby Spencer 2, Candice Page 2), 4 seconds over the Red Team (Selena Frost, Daniela Raye Weathers, CJ O’Donnell, Jessie Lee, Brooke Blakely, Crystal Hilton, Nick Danger, Selena Frost 2)
Wall #9
Penelope Plimmswood takes the tag and begins the looong run to the other 10-yard line. She’s not even at the 50-yard line by the time Daniela Raye Weathers takes the tag and starts her second run for the Red Team. Weathers, a pro football player, is sprinting like a thoroughbred and makes up some ground. Penelope gets to her wall first and discovers it’s made of blue painted drywall. She picks up the drywall jab saw and starts stabbing at the wall. Once through, she turns the blade and starts sawing a hole. Daniela’s approach to the wall is just to punch through it with a fist. It almost works, but the wall thickness proves to be a real challenge. After a few strikes an collapsed hole opens up, but Daniela is quick to notice that wall framing will prevent her body from stepping through the wall. A clear area, free of framing is open at bottom left side of the wall where the framing is missing. Daniela picks up jab saw and starts opening up a second hole in that spot. Penelope pops her head through the opening she’s made and decides that rather than move to the frameless portion of the wall, she’s going to just squeeze her skinny ass through the 18” gap. She strains to opens up enough area to side step through the studs and barely is able to do it, but she manages and eventually plops out the other side. Dusty, but successful, she makes the long journey back to her team. Daniela isn’t far behind, but she lost some time having to make 2 holes.
Leader: Blue Team (Jacoby Spencer, Candice Page, Penelope Plimmswood, Eli Buchanan, Zara Ivory, Cherry Cola, Jacoby Spencer 2, Candice Page 2, Penelope Plimmswood 2), 10 seconds over the Red Team (Selena Frost, Daniela Raye Weathers, CJ O’Donnell, Jessie Lee, Brooke Blakely, Crystal Hilton, Nick Danger, Selena Frost 2, Daniela Raye-Weathers 2)
Wall #10
Eli Buchanan is the final challenger for the Red Team and is an absolute bullet flying down the field. He arrives at the final red wall at a speed much slower than at the beginning of his run. CJ O’Donnell runs like a man on fire down his side of the field. The two of them may be the most gifted runners of the bunch, but the real test is about who has better technique at the wall? The wall in front of them is made of sturdy painted bricks and the tool for its destruction is a pickaxe. The standard steel pickaxe isn’t the ideal tool for the job, a diamond or netherite pickaxe would be nicer right about now, but both men make labored progress. Buchanan is picking chunks out of the center of the wall, but he’s slowing down, fatigue setting in. O’Donnell is attacking the wall like it stole something and it appears as if both men are in an even race. The scoreboards show a closeup of the action and the teams in the far end zone are going crazy cheering on their teammates. Buchanan is the first to poke through the wall, just a few seconds before O’Donnell. Now big chunks are shooting out the back side of the wall. The challengers change the angle of their shots, taking clumps out at a time. Buchanan tries to squeeze through the hole in his wall, but he can’t fit! O’Donnell nothices and becomes a man possessed! He keeps striking as his hole gets bigger. Buchanan strikes again and another big chunk opens up his wall enough for him to pass through. O’Donnell climbs through his wall at the same exact time. They both turn around the post and start sprinting. It’s a dead tie, O’Donnell overtakes Buchanan in a mad dash and finishes just a step ahead at the goal line. They both reach their teams, turn around and begin sprinting ANOTHER 100 yards to the finish line, this time with their entire team.
Leader: Red Team (Selena Frost, Daniela Raye Weathers, CJ O’Donnell, Jessie Lee, Brooke Blakely, Crystal Hilton, Nick Danger, Selena Frost 2, Daniela Raye-Weathers 2, CJ O’Donnell 2) A step ahead of the Blue Team (Jacoby Spencer, Candice Page, Penelope Plimmswood, Eli Buchanan, Zara Ivory, Cherry Cola, Jacoby Spencer 2, Candice Page 2, Penelope Plimmswood 2, Eli Buchanan 2),
Final Sprint
Both teams take off in a full out sprint for the win. Slowest runner loses it for their team, but who will it be? Most of the runners take off at a good speed, even Eli Buchanan and CJ O’Donnell who are now running the length of the field for the 3rd time. The slowest runners of the group are Crystal Hilton, Brooke Blakely, and Nick Danger from the red team and Cherry Cola from the blue team. In truth, none of them look like they enjoy running, nor do they look all that determined to finish well for the team. Hilton and Blakely are jogging, but moving fast enough to pull away. They are only at the 40 when other members of the team cross the finish line. Penelope Plimmswood being the first, but others right behind her. Cherry Cola looks destroyed, holding her ribs and wincing in pain, but she’s still jogging. Nick Danger is jogging, but having to stop, in serious pain over his injured hand. An absolute look of anguish painted all over his face, adrenaline wearing off. He’s shaking his head ‘no’ as he jogs with one hand carrying the other. The two of them show spurts of energy, but they struggle the entire way. When Cherry Cola finally crosses the goal line and seals the win for the Blue Team, Nick Danger is still at the 10 and walks out the rest of the race.
RESULTS
#BREAKING NEWS - Blue Team wins.
SAUCEY: Challengers, that was a hard-fought race. You broke through the news and left it all out there on the field. But in the end, it was the Blue Team's relentless determination and a stroke of bad luck for the Red Team that sealed the race. An injury seemed to seal the outcome. Nick is being evaluated by our medical staff as we speak. And we will give you all an update on his condition as soon as possible. But I want to commend each of you for demonstrating your strength, teamwork, and sportsmanship. It was truly inspirational.
The teams take a moment to clap for each other, the Blue Team a little more ecstatic about the result.
SAUCEY: Blue Team, you’ve earned a trip for two on the legendary cruise ship, the Titanic. Red Team, you showed me your heart today and I appreciate the effort you put in. In the pro wrestling world, only the sensational stories are the ones that are #BREAKINGNEWS, but I want you to know that you are good enough the way you are. You don’t need to do anything desperate for attention. You don’t need to practice risky behaviors to get views and headlines. Just be your authentic self, know your limitations, and write your own story. Not everybody gets to win, but winning isn’t always everything. I see something special in each one of you. Even if you lost the battle today, you still have the potential to exalt yourself to legendary status. Remember that the Titanic was the greatest vessel of its time, but it wasn’t perfect. And it sank. Sometimes just surviving is better than being a legend.
There are nods of affirmation by some and looks of disgust by others.
SAUCEY: This is a marathon folks, so don’t feel too up or too down about what you’ve seen today. Now, before I release you. I want to spill the beans on your next challenge. And this is one that I think you’ll be excited to hear about because it hits close to home. You’ve been asking me when you’ll be able to actually wrestle in this competition. WRITING PROMPT #3 & #4
FORMAT
Prompt #3 - 1000-1500 word match hype piece (posted on forum)
Prompt #4 - 1000-1500 word match (private messaged to Saucey)
MATCH HYPE PROMPT
Sell the match.
You will be spending a few days at the Champions Advantage Performance Center in Vero Beach, Florida, taking a new wrestler under your wing. You will have an exhibition match with that wrestler at a Make-A-Wish Foundation event for the Orlando Children’s Hospital, wrestling in front of an audience of sick and disabled children. Create a new wrestler, write a piece where you interact with them, then write your match.
IDEAS: The hype piece is meant to promote your match and bring attention to the event. The match itself is meant to be an exhibition to raise money and elevate the art of pro wrestling. Spend some time with the wrestler and make us want to see the match.
SCORING: Pieces will be judged in 7 key areas on a score of 3 (excellent), 2 (needs work), 1 (needs a lot of work)
MATCH HYPE PIECE
Structure (beginning, middle, end)
Easy to Read? (Does it flow? Is it confusing?)
Originality? (Is it unique? Generic? Just like other pieces?)
Is your Gimmick clear? (Do we know what your character’s motivations are other than just winning?)
Is it On Topic? (Does it answer the writing prompt?)
Spelling & Grammar (Doesn’t have to be perfect)
Length and on Time? (is it 1500-2000 words?)
MATCH PIECE
Introduction (Bring them to the ring and establish who’s the face and who’s the heel)
The Shine (Set the tone with a great opening)
The Heat (Does the heel work over the face and the crowd for a while)
The Comeback (Does the face fight back and get the crowd on their side)
The Big Heat (Does the heel pull out all the stops and hit the big moves, getting angry and going for a pin)
The Big Comeback (Does the face find the strength to fight back, feeding off of the crowd, and going for a pin of their own)
The Finish (Wrap it up with a unique finish, a run-in, a foreign object)
Post Match (Show us what this match meant to the wrestlers and how we should feel about it.
***Note that you may use Sauce Boss and a color commentator for commentary, but it is not required.
