I've been dealing with a teething baby which as messaged with my sleep along with a sick household from about Wednesday/Thursday until Sunday. I was going to have it up Monday night vs risking Sauce waking up and it not counting, but my super lack of sleep caught up, and I passed out until almost 5am. My apologies to my team and to Sauce.
From the compound to Toronto to Chicago, back to Toronto then to wherever her friend’s death match party was being held that she had signed up for a while back…Zara’s weekend was full of travel between Zion and New Frontier Wrestling. When the shows were done for the weekend, though, it was back to the compound; of course, she was going to enjoy the time with her fiance and her cousins while she could. She had just gotten back to Toronto with her cousin, Tala, and the two had met up with Marley before it was time to go to the arena for Zara to help out with a friend’s entrance. Of course, that had been nearly half an hour ago, and the trio were in a locker room as Zara got dolled up for her friend’s big entrance.
”It really is nice to have you around again, Tala. We were beginning to wonder what was going on.” Zara glanced over at her cousins, side-eyeing the redhead momentarily before going back to looking straight ahead while make-up got applied to her face. ”I’m sorry neither of us called you about Lolo, T…I would have thought someone would have called way before now.” Marley truly did feel awful, but it was what it was. Tala waved them both off, shrugging a little. Before any of them could say anything else, though, they were interrupted by a snippet of “Popular Monster” by Falling in Reverse playing. The Filipino womens’ eyes all darted to Zara’s phone when her old theme song started to play, knowing that she used it for a text notification tone now.
”Want me to see what that’s all about for you, Z?” Zara gave Tala a brief nod since she wasn’t able to check her phone herself. More was going into getting her dressed up as an ancient priestess, to go with her friend’s vision, than she had initially thought about when she volunteered to be a part of it all. ”It’s about Last Man Standing…apparently they’re giving you the chance to switch teams if you want.” Zara waved away the team that was getting her ready, asking for a bit of a break, and she walked over to her cousins, taking her phone from Tala. ”Well I’ll be damned…that’s definitely surprising.” Zara looked at the text a few more brief moments before she locked her phone and tossed it onto the top of her open bag. Carefully, she drank some of her water, ignoring the stares from her two cousins.
Tala and Marley looked at each other for a second before they turned their gaze to Zara, both with questioning looks on their faces. ”I’ll be damned? Really?” Zara looked at them with a raised eyebrow but Tala beat her to saying anything. ”You could change your team if you want to, and all you can say is I’ll be damned?” Zara thought about it for a second then shrugged a little. It wasn't a thought that had crossed her mind since crossing teammates wasn’t who she was. ”Look, had this been me say…2 years ago, maybe the idea would intrigue me more. I wasn’t a big team player back then as it was. If it was then, I’d probably be all over jumping teams just to be that bitch.” Zara sat back down as the hair/make-up team came back in to finish their preparations. Zara could feel her cousins staring her down, so she rolled her eye a little again. Giving the team a few moments to finish with her lips, she proceeded to sigh once they were done.
”The two of you know damn well that if this was when I was debating on getting my professional wrestling career going, I would stab the blue team in the back in a heartbeat. It wouldn’t have been anything against any of them by a long run…that’s just who I was back then. Now though? Being a part of the Queens of Chaos for a little over a year has shown me just how important loyalty to your team is. If you can’t trust them then what’s the point in being a part of the team in general?” Zara closed her eyes to allow the team to put a few more finishing touches on the make-up they had all so expertly applied. The answer from Zara seemed to satisfy Marley who could only smile at her cousin’s growth in the industry. After a few minutes, Marley bid Zara and Tala farewell, mentioning going to find Samuel before his match later in the evening. Ivory was, with aid, getting dressed up in the priestess outfit so that she would be ready ahead of time in case some touch-ups or something needed to happen. If one were to look at Tala, it would be clear that the other Divata woman wasn’t satisfied with Z’s response about the whole team switching business.
”Z, you’re really telling me that you wouldn’t have ANY desire to switch teams? What if the other team was actually your best option?” Zara glanced behind her to look at Tala for a second before she went back to focusing on getting the costume on. She shook her head, a little disappointed in Tala’s question, but it was what it was. ”Tala, I have no legitimate reason to want to change teams. I haven’t had any issues with any of them. Plus switching teams would be getting stuck with Brooke again…she already proved to everyone on the Blue team that she’s not trustworthy. Why would I want to subject myself to that again?” The green-haired woman carefully sat down, making sure to adjust the skirt to the costume in order to be sure that she didn’t mess it up before she was due to get on the Ancient Aztec Pyramid replica. Tala reached over and grabbed Zara’s bottle of water, handing it to her so it was within easy reach of the Chaotic Nightmare.
”Besides…” Zara briefly paused, taking a sip from the water before turning to her older cousin. ”The better option is always the one I make for myself. With Last Man Standing, my best option is the team I’m already on. It’s well put together, and we’ve all got our own strengths and weaknesses. Knowing that, accepting it…that’s what’s going to continue leading our team to victory. I don’t want to turn my back on something that’s working well enough.” Tala eyed her cousin again, trying to decide how to phrase her next words. She understood where Zara was coming from well enough, but it still made her wonder if the wrestler was thinking clearly with it. ”Do you really think you can trust them? Do you think they feel and think like you do?” Scrunching her eyebrows together, Zara just looked at Tala for a moment. She was wondering where all of this doubt and negativity was coming from. Yeah, it was technically Tala’s job to look out for Zara with things surrounding her career now, but Ivory felt she was going a touch overboard at that point.
”Look, Tala…you’re trying to make me think about all aspects. I get it, I really do. I obviously can’t speak for my teammates; I don’t know what’s going through their minds. Naturally, I can only speak for myself and that’s what I’m doing. If anyone on the team wants to jump ship to the other then so be it. That’s. Not. Me. Though.” Ivory stewed in silence for a couple of minutes before getting back up. There was still the headdress and armored shoulder plates to be added to her get-up, after all…not to mention she still needed to grab her prop sword as well. ”If they want to change teams, respectfully, fuck ‘em and good riddance. If they’d be willing to jump that soon then they’re obviously not worth having on my side anyway. I know where my loyalties lie in all of this, it’s not my fault if the others don’t.” Tala pushed herself up, moving to help Zara with the headdress and shoulder armor piece. The Filipino woman looked pretty badass in the get-up, and they both knew that the entrance she was taking part in would look pretty awesome as well.
The two left the room in order for Zara to go get the prop sword to put the last minute finishing touches on the outfit. They passed by a stagehand who seemed to be coming in their direction as it was. ”Oh, Ms. Ivory! Just who I was coming to see! You’ve got about 25 minutes before you need to head up for Mrs. Lemon’s entrance!” Zara grinned and nodded a thank you to the stagehand before the two cousins continued their trek. ”Why have so much trust in them? It’s not like they’re the Queens of Chaos.” Ivory raised an eyebrow as she glanced over at her cousin while they walked. ”QoC or not, they’re still my team. They rely on me just like I rely on them during this, and I’m not going to be the one to jeopardize anything about it. It just is what it is, Tala…simple as that.” The two continued in silence, finally reaching where the swords were for the entrance. Zara wasn’t surprised when she saw only a couple of them left, telling her that she was one of the last to come get the piece.
