Super Bowl 56: LA Rams vs Cincinnati Bengals
THIS IS AWESOME Promotions Recap
Invited guests and stadium staff packed into an exclusive box at SoFi Stadium to watch the LA Rams take on the Cincinatti Bengals in a highly-anticipated clash. The Rams won a back-and-forth contest 23-20. The winning throw…I mean touchdown? The winning touchdown was…thrown by Quarterback Matthew Stafford and…caught by Receiver Cooper Kupp.
The Bengals had one last chance to get their noses in front at the end, but on the fourth of their downs they were…sacked? Quarterback Joe Burrow was “sacked” by Aaron Donald, giving LA the victory.
Of course one of the highlights of the whole shindig was the Pepsi Halftime show, which featured a star studded lineup of Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and Mary J. Blige.
Dre and Snoop kicked things off on top of a stunning set which resembled a series of apartment buildings, with the two of the kings of rap on top. They began with the memetastic track “The Next Episode”, making their way through the set and getting jiggy with the backing musicians.
The boys segued into “California Love”, a hit from 1995 originally by 2pac and Dr Dre which was a big hit with the crowd. They were joined by 50 Cent, who dropped his mega hit “In Da Club”. The show continued with a bit of female talent as Mary J. Blige rocked the stage with a rendition of “Family Affair” followed by “No More Drama”.
Performances from Kendrick Lamar and Eminem closed out a memorable halftime show - the first to feature straight up hip hop.
While the action was rowdy on the stage and on the field, it got just as rowdy in the box. The beer was flowing freely as guests gorged themselves on nachos and hot dogs, and everyone was having a great time. However by the end of the game things in the box had deteriorated, mainly because of the ongoing alcohol consumption - maybe those bottomless cocktails were not a great idea?
Sushi and burritos were being thrown, bottles were flying and waitresses evacuated the area as the box descended into chaos. Eventually security was called to get things under control - which wasn’t a mean feat. Slowly but surely they managed to separate the troublemakers and prevent any further injuries.
It’s understood the damage bill is estimated to be in the thousands of dollars, with potential criminal proceedings being considered. This reporter has received word that a This Is Awesome sponsor is being dropped over the situation, however we cannot name the individual at this stage.
In a statement, TIA said that uninvited guests caused the ruckus, and were removed by security.
“The TIA brand continues to grow,” they said.
“TIA representatives were not in attendance.”
