Four Months ago…
Xavier Lux, unusually dressed in one of his finest suits, is sitting in an office in downtown Washington, D.C. which is overlooking the National Mall and the Lincoln Memorial to be exact. The Memorial bridge can also be seen as well as part of the reflective pool in front of said memorial. It’s been a while since he’s been in the “Chocolate” City, having fond memories of wrestling in many arenas and smaller venues across the DMV. He’s here to stay now, as this is his new office from which he will be running his new venture. There is a knock on the door, and he reluctantly turns his gaze towards the door, he smiles as he sees the man walking in.
Xavier: O…D… J…. It has been a minute.
Xavier stands up and comes around the desk and greets Douglas Jimenez, shaking his hand first and then embracing him in a bro-hug. The “O” stands for owner and founder of the Seven Deadly Sins wrestling brand and stable, both the original and the new… Also, owner of the football franchise of the same name, which is a 2-time Insane-bowl champions in the I.O.W.A. Football League. Lastly, the “O” he is most known for: owner of the former ICWF - Insane Championship Wrestling Federation. This promotion ran on and off from 1999-2004 and during that time was considered one of the best promotions in the world. Known not only for having some of the best wrestlers but also some of the craziest, hardcore/extreme, and unique matches. A lot of the matches you see today, or variations of, whether people want to admit it or not, have come from the ICWF. The promotion not only lived up to its insane name, but it also lived it.
ODJ: Oh, it’s been longer than that, I think the last time I saw you; you were nothing but a snot-nosed punk teen trying to be a wrestler in Paco’s bodega gym. You had hair back then! Look at how far you have come. Number four in the world?
Xavier: Yeah, very humbled by that, for real… But never forget, I choose to be ‘clean shaved’ not bald, ha!
ODJ: Sure kid, sure. He winks.
Xavier: If only ICWF would have been still opened then, I would have loved to wrestle for your promotion.
ODJ: and I would have loved to have you and continue your father’s legacy and do what you did in OCW, though he never won the big one in ICWF… I have no doubt in my mind you would have done it.
Xavier doesn’t respond to this, clearly it is still a sour topic for him.
ODJ: Sorry to bring him up, but I want you to understand that when your father wrestled for me, he was simply The Scorpion. Not an assassin, not a bad man, maybe a heel at times, I mean, who isn’t right? But he was just a wrestler, and one of the greats and the one you grew up idolizing. He had no idea who you were because I can guarantee you if he did, you probably would have been ringside for all his matches, lived in that locker room and grown up with our “insane” family.
Xavier: I know, thank you.
ODJ: Of course, man. Look, since you couldn’t wrestle for ICWF, I think what you are doing now, is the next best thing. The world is not ready for this, and I think a lot of the former wrestlers who are still active will be very excited to hear the news and even those who aren’t, will likely want to get involved in some way or fashion. You are going to make a lot of people very happy Xavier.
Xavier: You know, you could have made it happened at any time Dougg.
ODJ: I could have, but it’s so much fun to watch them suffer as they ask me “when are you bringing ICWF back?” and I answer with “neeeeeever”. Oh, such a good feeling.
Xavier: Still living the “Hate Me Now” gimmick huh?
ODJ: Then, now, forever… well, you just ruined forever for me.
Xavier: So, it is done then?
ODJ: Yup, your lawyers and mine just wrapped it up. Just need one more signature from you and I wanted to be the one to get it.
ODJ takes out an iPad and shows it to Xavier, it’s an electronic contract, a single page that requires his signature. Xavier reads it briefly, takes a deep breath, signs it, and then clicks accept. He hands the iPad back to ODJ.
ODJ: Congratulations Venom, you are now the owner of the ICWF!
They shake hands and Xavier smiles, in his mind, despite having no experience whatsoever at being a booker, he is already working on booking the best card possible.
November 28th
The scene opens in a conference room which is located inside a stadium that has been long forgotten by all the local sports teams. But today, the stadium known as Robert F. Kennedy is getting a makeover as it gets ready to hold it’s first event in years, and it’s first wrestling event ever. The conference room has already been given a facelift, and at the ‘head of the table’ is Xavier Lux, now dressed in more casual clothes and on the large table around him you see about twenty people, a combination of former ICWF officials, referees, Hall of Fame wrestlers, and commentators. In the back, lined up against the wall and packed like sardines, are reporters from all over the sport, whether newspapers, the internet radio, or TV…. From small wrestling podcasts all the way to ESPN El Ocho as well as the Splat Network. Xavier stands up and addresses everyone.
Welcome everyone to the reveal of ICWF’s return pay-per-view card: Rebirth!
Everyone applauds and Xavier smirks that classic smirk of his and without making them wait any longer, he clicks the mouse on his laptop and on the two 96-inch 8K television screens behind him you see the banner for the event…
And as you can see, it will be hosted in the birthplace of ICWF, Washington D.C. and inside this historic stadium that when fitted with a wrestling ring in the middle and floor level seats around it, will have a max capacity of 56,169!
The banner fades away into aerial shot of RFK Stadium…
But if for some reason you can join us live and in person, you will be able to order it on the Splat! Network.
The images changes into the Splat Network logo…
Now ya’ll know the ‘saucy’ sixteen for the World Series of Wrestling were revealed last night, and they are, without a shadow of a doubt, some of the best wrestlers in the wrestling world today AND the perfect roster to restart the ICWF with. You have their names, you know who they are, and you know what they bring to the ring, but before I reveal the matches, let me tell you about the matches themselves.
You see ICWF had a theme for each one of its pay-per-views and so, the first PPV back will also have a theme that honors ICWF’s past. ICWF had PPVs named Insane Rumble, Dawn of Insanity, Prophecies, Halloween Riot and many more. So, what we have done is that each match, will be themed on a previous ICWF PPVs and the graphics you will see are for the last time that particular PPV was held.
With me so far? Good! Furthermore, unlike many promotions who return and take forever to crown their champions, not naming any names *cough* James and Chris *cough*, we’re crowning four champions at Rebirth. The four titles we are bringing back are the World, Intercontinental, Hardcore and Tag Hardcore. In case you forgot, ICWF had a tag hardcore division, the only one to this day to do it. Look it up, facts people!
Last but definitely not least, each match will have a special guest referee enforcer and those will be current Hall of Famers of the ICWF, some of which are here today and can definitely attest to the level of violence the ICWF achieved back in the day. Some of them went harder than others, and some can consider themselves lucky that they can still walk today.
Alright, enough build up, are you ready to see the card?! Well then, without further ado, I give you our opening bout….
Lex Collins will take on “The Comedian” Allen Cheney in an Insane Massacre match. As I looked at the roster, there weren’t any two guys I rather start the rebirth with than with these two men. Both are veterans of this sport, both have done and seen it all but are nowhere near done with wrestling and wrestling is not done with them yet. I can see them as two corner stones of the ICWF for years to come. As for the match itself, both wrestlers will start inside the ring and are allowed to use anything and everything they want to hurt each other. However, they must find a way to work their way to the backstage area, and into the boiler room of the stadium which, spoiler alert, is two floors below the field you see out there. Once there, they must find a way to set their opponent on fire! Trust me, there will be plenty of toys made available for them to use and do this, have no fear. I just hope they don’t burn the whole stadium down. Whoever wins will also become the #1 contender to the Hardcore Championship. The guest referee enforcer for this one will be “Big Game” Johnny Hunter and I can honestly say, this was the first man that took the “insane” banner in ICWF and ran with it. He won’t have much to do on this one, just signal for the bell and raise the winner’s hand, maybe check if a wrestler is still breathing? But if I the stories I’m told about Johnny are true, I’m sure he’ll have a surprise or two for these two dudes.
Unto match #2…
“The Snow Queen” Selena Frost will take on Regan Voorhees in a Masters of the Mat match. This PPV was the only one where ICWF took a break from the insanity and had a pure wrestling tournament. This was the opportunity for everyone to show that they had the mat skills to match the insanity. When I looked at these two ladies, I couldn’t find two more evenly match wrestlers that could give us a solid, classic, one of a kind 30-minute iron-women match. Do these two ladies have the capabilities to go the extreme? Of course, they do, but they will put on a wrestling clinic instead to give you a different flavor of the ICWF. The winner of this one will earn herself a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. The guest referee for this one is The Accelerator, a man who took the ICWF by storm and did it in a way that didn’t require so much violence. He’s the epitome of what a master of the mat should be and has the championships to prove it.
Onto Match #3…
Johnathan “The Beast” Cable will take on “Twizted Thoughtz” Joe Montuori in an Extreme Measures match for the Hardcore Championship. I mean just look at these two men, do I really need to explain why I would choose The Beast and Twizted Joe to be the first two wrestlers to fight for the Hardcore Championship? Of course not, just like I don’t need to explain to you what an Extreme Measures match is. Some may say this is just a classic hardcore match, there is nothing special about it. But look at the two men in the match and tell me again that it will not be special. They will give you an Extreme Measures match you will not soon forget and you will definitely not forget who becomes the first ICWF Hardcore Champion in 16 years. Just like you can’t forget who the guest referee is for this one: The Lost Soul, one of the most violent men the ICWF has ever seen, and one that can definitely be considered an ‘innovator of violence’.
Now Match four is the only tag match of the night….
The Lord of the Vine” Dionysus will tag with Amber Bane Ryan and take on the “Dollface” Sarah Wolf and her partner, “The Ginger Ninja” Molly Hatchet in an Ultimate Survival Match for the World Tag Hardcore championships. Some of you may say: “now that’s some odd pairings”, but one thing that has always been an issue across our great sport has been having a solid tag team division and hey, if your promotion was one of the few that had a great one, well, congratulations.. You are the exception to the rule. So, when the ICWF was low on teams back in the day, ODJ would just start pairing off wrestlers who he thought could turn out to be great tag teams and put them either in tag tournaments or gauntlet matches and let the magic happen… Well, following his mentally, I have paired these four wrestlers because I think the potential is great for them to be the foundation from which the new tag division is built from. I think The Dollface and The Green Ninja can have some great chemistry off the bat and just something about the pairing of Dionysus and Amber just works for me. I’m sure that at the pay-per-view these two teams will take the barbwire-wrapped ball and run with it… and in the process, reveal who will be the ultimate surviving team. But this has a little twist, but first let me tell you what the actual match is… You start with a roofed cage, with one of the tag team championships hanging from the top of it. Once one of the tag members retrieve it, they must make their way outside of the cage, climb it and then using the ladder on top of the cage, reach for the second championship. The team that can retrieve both championships will be declared the winners… Now here is the twist, what if the teams don’t end up getting along, don’t work well or what have you? Then if a team member of each team ends up with a title each, they can decide then and there if they want to become the new tag team champions or continue to fight for their original team. If they choose to continue, then a winner can only be determined via throwing not one, but both opposing team members off the top of the cage! So, this match becomes one of, can you trust your partner? Sure, but more can you be the ultimate survivors? The referee for this one will be the man known as Titan 3, a multi-time world champion, he held pretty much every belt there was to hold in ICWF including the hardcore championship in two separate occasions. He was by far one of the most dominant champions in ICWF history, and so he will have no problem keeping up with these four great individuals.
Is that enough, or do you guys want more? Of course you do, here is match five…
Vhodka Black will take on Candice “Voodoo” Wolf-Page in a Phobias match for the Intercontinental Championship. Now there is a couple of interesting things in this match aside from the fact that you have two of the best in the business now in Candice and Vhodka participating. As you see, this is a Phobias match… Back in the day this PPV had a card that had phobia-themed matches. Fear of clowns, close spaces, spiders, what have you. Now for this one, we have looked at these ladies’ roster sheets, dug up some dirt on them and have identified what their phobias are… They may not want to admit them and say we full of shit, but we know what they are… However, they will remain a secret until it’s match time… Now hopefully these two don’t suffer from emetophobia, which is the fear of secrets, or they may not even make it to the match, heh. Now the second interesting thing about this match is that it is for the Intercontinental championship. The ICWF was unique in that, we gave the name meaning in that the championship was defended in all the continents of this world of ours. Well as we come back, we will continue that tradition. So, this match will not take place in Washington D.C., but in the continent of Asia! Which country to be specific? Japan of course! The option for great locations there are many, as well as for building the perfect set to match these ladies phobias. I personally cannot wait for this match; it’s going to be scary AF! Now the guest referee for this one will be the one and only El Linchador! Hands down, one of the most beloved wrestlers to have ever set foot in an ICWF ring or anywhere, period. He was the ultimate good guy and the ultimate international star, so it is very fitting that he gets to referee this one… Though we probably should have checked with him to see if he has any phobias himself… Whoops.
Well, I think there’s been enough talk, it’s time for the main event!!
“The Mechanic” Peter Vaughn will take on the one and only… ME for the World Heavyweight Championship! Bad Blood was never intended to, but it became the ICWF’s biggest pay-per-view of the year as time went on. Some of the best matches, some of the most brutal, some of the most innovate matches took place during this PPV and so of course the main event had to be themed after it. Now as for the participants, you all will agree that Peter Vaughn deserves to be here hands down… But Xavier Lux? Seriously? You are putting yourself in the main event? Well, if there is one thing ODJ has thought me is if they are going to hate you no matter what, might as well give them a good reason to hate you SO YOU DAMN RIGHT I AM PUTTING MYSELF IN THE MAIN EVENT…
*mumbles* Plus I was told initially I had to be in it, but “he” then changed it, ruining everything, but too late now to back up…*ahem*
THERE is no better way to start off the return of the ICWF with me as its new World Champion. Now, of course, I have to beat Peter and that’s no easy task but there is a reason to this day Peter and I haven’t had a one-on-one match. Did you guys know that we are 1-1 against each other? We faced in a prison yard match for the OCW World Championship along with six other wrestlers, which I won and then later in a 3 way for the TPW World Championship match which he won. With my help of course, ASK HIM! *ahem* But because of our friendship we have stayed out of each other’s ways… That changes now, you all probably think he will “mop” the mat with me… But I know I have a decent chance at beating Peter, and more importantly, HE KNOWS I do. But I also know you guys will think I’m not going to be fair on this match, so to ensure that this match is called right down the middle. To ensure that there is no controversy whatsoever, I have asked this ICWF Hall of Famer to be the one to referee our match… Because if there is one man out there who is 100% full of integrity, a man that can be trusted that same 100% and a man that I know will not let any shenanigans stand or bring any shenanigans himself, it is this man… Of course, I am talking about DEAN!
The reporters begin to talk among themselves and clearly they are reluctant to believe anything has said in regard to the world championship.
Now as for the match itself, it is not just a ‘first blood’ match, or even second or third… This is a “Bad Blood” match with means that the purpose is to make your opponent bleed from FIVE different wounds. That’s right, a single cut on the forehead won’t do. Your skin cutting open from too many kendo stick shots won’t do. Did a dozen thumbtacks on your back make you bleed? Guess what, that counts as only one! If you want to win this championship Petey, you are going to have to make me bleed all over that ring, all over this stadium!
The reporters are all blown away.
Well, there you have it folks, that is the official ICWF Rebirth card. Any questions?!
They all throw their hands up in the air, obviously having a million questions.
Just kidding, we will not be taking any questions at this moment, but I will address the elephant, or rather, the two elephants in the room. And those are Raion Kido and Shawn Warstein…. Do not worry, they will definitely be in attendance at the PPV… I have history with both men you see, and I have something extra special for these two… Oh yeah… But to find out what that is, you’ll have to tune in to find out!!
Thank you everyone!!
Everyone around the table applauds and the reporters all begin shouting questions, but RFK security is quickly on them and usher them out.

But now due to Warstein’s cowardly actions, he is ready for a fight TONIGHT! He calls out Shawn and challenges him to a fight, right here, right now. He then gets out, bloodied and beat, but still manages to get on top of the ambulance and points at the champion. The crowd starts a chant of 'this is awesome' as the show comes to an end.
