As the alarm on Zara Ivory’s phone went off, she groaned sleepily. She had gotten into her hotel in the morning, around 5 or 6 to be precise, and didn’t actually fall asleep until nearly 8. Fully waking up, the green-haired woman glared at her phone as she reached over to grab it, sliding her finger across the screen, quieting the alarm. The classic Halloween theme died down, and she rolled herself onto her back to stare at the ceiling for a couple of minutes, ignoring the strands of hair that had wrapped around her forehead and neck. It wasn’t until the Halloween theme began playing again that the woman finally pushed herself up to sit, grabbing her phone to turn off the 2nd alarm that she had just in case she had dozed off. The woman sighed while looking around the, aside from the camera person scheduled to follow her, empty hotel room, a light frown on her face.
“I wish I would have told Marcus to come on with me instead of saying I’d meet him in LA after Redshift tonight…or at least asked Marley to come with me.”
She had told her cousin/manager to stay on the UK/European tour since she would be back on Monday as it was, and she had told her boyfriend that she would meet him where the XIX show would take place on Sunday. She didn’t see any reason to make Marley exhausted with the flight after flight, barely any rest in between, and a small part of her felt like she needed to handle business in Prime alone.
“Alright, Z…time to change, grab some food, and head out.”
Zara pushed herself off of the bed with a final sigh before going over to one of the small bags that she had packed for the weekend trip back to North America. She had only needed her ring gear and a couple of days worth of clothes since she had her Tijuana Prison match in Prime Canadian Wrestling against Trixie Decker, Derrick Vayden, and Ryden Lauffeyson for the Trainwreck Championship then a gauntlet in XIX. Digging through the bag and pulling some clothes out, the Filipino woman stepped into the bathroom, coming back out a few minutes later in tight, dark gray jeans and a Camp Crystal Lake shirt, her hair thrown up into a messy ponytail and sans make-up. Tossing the dirty clothes into a laundry bag then back into her duffle, Zara grabbed her phone charger and tossed it into the bag as well then slipped on a pair of black boots.
“Look, I ain’t one to bore people with all the mundane shit. I eat, shit, and sleep just like every other person does. Tonight is a big night because I’m set to face 3 others for the hardcore title in a new promotion. To be the face of one of their divisions, knowing that my fellow Queens of Chaos are on the path to take over the other divisions in Prime…well, let’s just say that I’m happy to take on that mantle first.”
Yeah, talking to the camera was a technical no-no for what was going on, but a part of her couldn’t help but react to it some. She shouldered her 2 bags then grabbed her phone, her room key since she would be checking out. Between leaving her room and checking out of the hotel, nothing exciting happened other than she grabbed some of the snack style food they had available, but as the green-haired woman was waiting for her ride to pick, there was a group coming towards the entrance to the hotel. Zara hadn’t ever really had a reason to try and hide away from crowds before…she had always just been a bit player in her mind. So when a couple of the younger kids in the family, as well as a teenager who was trying to hide her excitement, suddenly squealed in delight, the young woman looked around to see if some celebrity had appeared.
“Oh my gosh!!!! Oh my gosh!!!!”
“You’re Zara Ivory!”
“Dude, you’re so awesome!”
Zara looked at the group in awe for a minute before she walked over to them, a smile on her face. The 3 kids seemed shocked, and the youngest two, a little girl and boy, were almost bouncing where they stood as she squatted down, putting one knee down against the ground. She glanced up at the teenage girl with a grin before looking at the younger two.
“Well hey there, y’all. What’re your names?”
“I’m Angie!”
“I’m Jake!”
Zara put her duffle on the sidewalk next to her and rifled through it, mentally thanking herself for bringing a couple of the replica helmets that she used to wear when she debuted professionally. She had been debating about going back to it and had begun carrying them around again. Letting out a little ‘Aha!’ when she found, the pulled them out then grabbed a silver Sharpie from her smaller bag. She always had one with her for after shows…she had done that ever since she was on the independent scene. When she was done signing the helmets, she grinned and put one on Angie’s head then the other on Jake’s head, giving them both a fist bump after.
“WOW!! SO COOL!!”
“Thank you!!!!!”
Zara let out a laugh as the two little kids hugged her tightly. Her gaze traveled up to the parents who had their phones out. The mom silently asked for pictures to which Zara gave her a little nod, her grin growing when she took one of them with the two kids hugging her then took one more with each kid on one side, huge smiles on both of their faces. She got back to her feet and walked over to the teenager that had been waiting patiently while her siblings got some attention from the wrestler. The green-haired woman looked at the teenager for a minute, noticing the colored highlights and Queens of Chaos shirt, giving her a little nod.
“Your hair looks awesome…I definitely wasn’t able to pull that off when I was younger. It took a lot of convincing for my parents to let me go green. Nice shirt…you’ve got some great taste in wrestlers. What’s your name?”
The teenager blushed at the compliments, and Zara gave her a minute to compose herself. Now that she was back on her feet, she could tell that the kids’ dad was recording the interaction, not that she had an issue with it; it would be something for the family to look back on after all.
“I’m Jude…and thanks, Zara! The Queens are my favorite stable in wrestling! You’re all so skilled! I can’t believe we’re meeting you right now!”
“Well it’s awesome to meet you, Jude. The Queens are pretty special, there’s no doubt about that. And you never know what the day will bring you!”
“Would you sign my shirt?!”
Zara chuckled a little at the excitement that laced Jude’s voice before she nodded. The teenager turned around so her back was to the Filipino woman, and both had big smiles on their faces as Zara signed the back of the shirt. She took a couple of pictures with Jude but before she could have any more conversation with the little family, her ride pulled up and honked the horn. She waved at the little group and just before she closed the door to the car, she heard Jude calling out to her.
“Good luck tonight! It’s going to be awesome seeing you kick some butts!”
Zara threw up a rock on sign before closing the door, knowing that the teenager probably wanted to say something worse but had cleaned it up for her younger siblings. It didn’t take long for the wrestler to arrive at the arena, and she immediately went into the Queens of Chaos locker room to get ready. The show wasn’t for a few more hours, but she had to get in her gear and let hair/make-up do something with her since she hadn’t done anything before leaving the hotel as well as get stretched out for the upcoming match.
“Time to show them just what a Nightmare you really are, Zara.”
—---------------------------
Adrenaline had been rushing through her veins as her chest heaved from how tiring the match had been. Using barbed wire for herself, being whipped numerous times with a strap, hit with an oak axe handle, and having a chain used on her definitely left with a lot having been taken out of her, but she walked out as the first Prime Canadian Wrestling Trainwreck champion just like she said she would. She had already let the medical team check her over, showered, changed, gotten her stuff, and had a chat with the general manager who had passed his old nickname to her. While those that didn’t know who he was wouldn’t understand what it meant to have it passed down, between winning the belt and having that happen, her night was made. She was yet again waiting for a ride, this time to the airport, when her phone started going off with a video call request, her childhood friend, Cordelia aka Cordy, popping up as the one requesting it. Hitting the accept button, Zara smiled as much as she could now that the aches and pain from the match were starting to sit in.
“Hey, Cordy! I figured you would have gone to bed after the show considering it’s super early over there.”
Zara had invited her bestie to join her on the overseas tour that she was a part of, granted it was only for a few weeks since her friend had her own career, as a massage therapist, to take care of…and despite the fact that the green-haired woman had other intentions in having her friend join them, but that was neither here nor there. The camera recording moved around a little to be able to get her phone in a decent view as well, showing off the redhead that was on the other side.
“I will soon. Ollie and I watched the show; I’m so proud of you, Z!! That match was so brutal though! I’ll meet up with you before your street fight on Monday to try and help your muscles so you’re not stiff during the match!”
“Thanks, Cordy! And I appreciate it, honey…Lord knows I’m going to need it between tonight and tomorrow night. I still can’t believe I won!”
“We knew you’d win it! You were in your wheelhouse tonight!”
“Thanks for the confidence. And since you mentioned Ollie…he been treating you well this weekend?”
Zara watched as her friend rolled her eyes at the question. Ollie was the hype man for the Queens, and most of them seemed to like him. Of course, Cordy and Ollie had developed an adorable little crush on each other after they had talked on Twitter some, so that was what led to Cordy joining them.
“He’s been a perfect gentleman and sweetheart, Z. You know you don’t have to worry.”
Before Zara could say anything again, her ride pulled up and waved. She adjusted the straps to the bags she was carrying then looked down at her phone as she began making her way over to the car.
“He better be. But my ride is here. I’ll see you Monday, Cordy. Go get some sleep!”
“Later Zara and make sure to call Marley tomorrow!”
Zara nodded then ended the call as she climbed into the care. She looked at the camera that had been recording her and shrugged a little before pulling a no-no again to directly acknowledge it.
“And there you have a day in the life of the Chaotic Nightmare. Enjoy y’all…I have a flight to Los Angeles to go catch!”
Throwing up a peace sign, the recording ended as the car drove off, towards the airport for Zara to head to her next destination.
“I wish I would have told Marcus to come on with me instead of saying I’d meet him in LA after Redshift tonight…or at least asked Marley to come with me.”
