Inside the Las Vegas branch of The Velvet Rabbit, there was a hustle and bustle going on that was common for the club considering all of the amenities ranging from the shops to the casino to even the wedding chapel, however, the focus, for the time being, was in the Coney Event Center where the next part was taking place for the World Series of Wrestling. Having been called in for her turn, Zara Ivory took the microphone she was handed and pondered the question for a moment.
“Who would I fight if I could? Well…I suppose with my being a horror lover, it would make sense or even be expected of me to say one of the villains like Jason Vorhees, Michael Myers, or even Chucky. However…I think I have to go with adult Laurie Strode; the woman became even more badass the older she got and the more she had to deal with Michael!”
Zara paused for a moment, carefully licking her lips but being mindful of the ruby red lipstick she was wearing to match the red and gray striped, v-cut short sleeve that stopped just above the top of her midriff. She had on black leather hip-hugger pants and a chunky-heeled pair of black boots with red laces for a bit of color added to it. The Filipino’s eyeshadow was done in a mix of red, gray, and black with black smokey eyeliner done for some extra flair. Her hair was crimped with the majority of it resting against her back though a bit of it was resting over her shoulder, against her chest.
“Now I’m not saying I would win because let's face it…how could one of us truly beat someone that has dealt with all of the bullshit from Michael Myers that Laurie dealt with in her life? Unless we were to play dirty, I just don’t see how that could happen, but that doesn’t mean that she wouldn’t get my all! It just means that I would have to get creative in how I would fight her if I planned on standing a chance!”
Zara’s hand ran through her hair, pulling what was resting on her chest back with the rest of it, and she shook it out in her hand a little. She began pacing the stage a little as she gathered her thoughts more on the topic, coming to a stop just off-center from where she had been standing previously.
“But truthfully, let’s face it…the older Laurie got, the more she had dealt with and the more prepared for the evil in her life she became. Myers was Haddonfield’s Boogeyman, sure, but he was her PERSONAL devil. The devil of Haddonfield was Strode’s personal, never ending, never diminishing demonic nightmare that she couldn’t escape no matter how hard she tried to. She had to deal with him creeping into her life at so many points that it probably felt like he was more of a consistent presence than any family or friends that she may have had left after he was through!”
Pausing again, Zara let out a little sigh as she began twirling the microphone between her fingers, careful not to let it hit her palm or drop it in order to avoid a loud feedback noise. After about 30 seconds, she stopped twirling the microphone and brought it back to her lips to speak again instead.
“At the end of it all, Laurie finally took down her devil, her demon. The badass bitch gave him one last battle from Hell, and yeah, she ended up needing her granddaughter’s help a little, but she was the one that gave him 99% of that beatdown! But let’s face facts here…”
Zara trailed off as she tapped her fingers against her cheek for a few moments.
“Depending on which version of the timelines you look at, and I’ll mention a couple of them to go with a couple of different angles of this. If you look at the original timeline, Laurie was fighting her brother for crying out loud! Can you imagine the strength it takes someone to end up doing that? Hell, I know I wouldn’t be able to fight my brothers or my sister for that matter, the way that Laurie has had to fight Michael Myers over the years. The man has tried killing her since she was a teenager, and out of protection for the kids she was babysitting, and eventually, for herself, she had to fight to the death!”
Zara’s hair bounced a little as she threw her free hand in the air, excitement shining in her eyes as she looked at the judges from her spot on the stage.
“Of course, she’s not in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th movies because the 3rd one sucked ass and the other 3, she was believed to be dead, but when they come back for the 7th movie, it’s revealed that she faked her death and had a new identity. Imagine having the courage to just leave everyone your might have still known and cared about because you had to fear for your own life so badly due to a murderous older brother! Then to be able to move on, have a son, and a career…I mean talk about some big, bold lady balls! Granted, she did turn to alcohol to deal with all of it, but some people just have shitty ways to cope. However! She ends up making up for it by the end of the movie, I feel.”
Zara shrugged a little and pursed her lips together a little as she thought about the heroine’s coping mechanisms in Halloween H20: 20 Years later. Blowing on a few strands of hair that had fallen in her face, the Filipino woman continued on.
“The remakes though! Oh, Laurie in the remakes was just awful, so I’m not even worried about that version of her! Although…I suppose it would be interesting to take on a Laurie that takes the mantle from Michael at the end of it all! But that’s neither here nor there since the remakes aren’t worth really delving into. Now adult Laurie that branches off in the sequels from the original Halloween…”
The green-haired woman smirked as she thought about the version of Laurie that she would like to face the most.
“Now THAT’S the Laurie Strode that I would want to face! See…that version of Laurie doesn’t know why Michael comes after her. She doesn’t understand that he’s coming after her because she’s his sister; the revelation was made in the 2nd Halloween movie but everything from 2018 and on is a continuation of the 1978 movie. But Laurie is the ultimate badass from there on. Preparing for him to come back despite her PTSD, losing custody of her daughter, losing two marriages, and turning to alcohol. Despite all of her setbacks, she continues to prepare for the return of her personal Devil.”
Zara paused a final time, gathering the last bit of her thoughts concerning the question.
“Eventually Laurie loses her daughter permanently as well, but she doesn’t let that stop her from stepping up for her granddaughter. Then there’s one final showdown with Michael…spoilers ahead for anyone that hasn’t seen Halloween Ends! While her granddaughter helped her some, she absolutely DECIMATES Michael and finally destroys her, seemingly, never-ending demon. So…I’m pretty sure that answers the question with a good bit of explanation as to why. Would I get my ass kicked? Yeah, I probably would, but I wouldn’t even care because I would have the chance to go against one of the most badass women in horror movie history!”
Zara laughed a little as she thought about getting her ass kicked by the older woman, but it wasn’t a bitter laugh. It was one that seemed almost content in an odd way.
“The chance to go against the woman that ends the terror that captures the town of Haddonfield for 40 years would be a dream come true because at least then I know I’d have one Hell of a true fight on my hands! I won’t downplay anyone I’ve faced in my career, professional or otherwise, but not a single one of them would match the ferocity that woman would bring to ANY kind of fight that we could potentially have. Now then…if there are no further questions or explaining needed, I do believe I’ve answered and am done here.”
With that, Zara tossed the microphone down, no longer caring about a feedback noise as she waked off of the stage.
