A live feed from a hotel room popped up for all to see if they bothered watching. Zara Divata, better known as Zara Ivory, was sitting in a nicely cushioned chair. The dim sunlight, blocked mostly by clouds, barely peeked through the hotel room’s curtains. She was dressed in a simple pair of black, skin-tight jeans with a deep red v-neck, a 3/4 sleeve shirt, and a pair of black, chunky heeled ankle boots. Her green hair was up in a simple ponytail and her eyeshadow and lipstick matched her t-shirt. One leg was crossed over the other’s knee and the Zion Gateway Championship was resting in her lap.
“10 people entered the ring to fight for the chance to represent Zion…and here I am, the last woman standing. For those of you that don’t know who I am, allow me to introduce myself. I am Zara Divata, otherwise known as Zara Ivory, The Chaotic Nightmare, and Zion Wrestling’s newest Gateway Champion.”
Zara smirked as she looked into the little camera she had set up. She leaned back, resting her elbows on the arms of the chair as she pressed her fingertips together. She brushed a few loose strands of her hair out of her face before she glanced down at the title, a grin on her face as she did. She looked back to the camera, the grin replaced with a smirk.
“Imagine coming from a, mostly, traditional Filipino family…a lot of siblings, living close to the rest of the family, et cetera. That was, no…I should say that is my life. My parents and grandparents kept in mind that things were different here, so my family adapted to that but still remained traditional in a number of ways.”
Zara paused, moving her new title to drape it across one of the chair arms instead of being in her lap. She moved her leg off the other one and leaned forward a touch, her arms resting on her legs.
“I didn’t want to follow tradition. I didn’t want a safe job as my mother had with being the manager of the gym my family owns. I loved wrestling, and I loved the idea of being in a ring. I wanted to do something in front of a crowd…to entertain a crowd. I never cared if I made it professionally or not; I was just as happy in front of an indy crowd versus an arena crowd. I knew my calling was under the lights, kicking some asses, listening to the love and hate from the fans.”
The green-haired woman licked her lips, careful not to smudge the lipstick that she had been careful to apply before going live. She brushed a few loose strands of her hair away from her face. Zara let out a gentle sigh before she spoke again.
“Having 3 brothers…I had to know how to fight being a middle child. And once my sister took off, I was the only female left in the house aside from my mom, who I love to death, she was of no help when it came to dealing with the guys. My sister and I are the only ones that chose to pursue careers that weren’t considered stable and safe by our family. Zinna went on to model while I chased my dream of wrestling. It took dedication to my training, and getting booked, to win over my parents and gain their support…my grandparents on the other hand…”
Zara trailed off for a moment. She had torn up the independent scene for 4 years, but it wasn’t until she debuted for Zion that things had changed with the people that meant the most to her, the ones that had truly taught her the most about her Filipino heritage.
“Well, it took my professional debut in Zion to change their minds, but they came around in the end which is all that mattered to me. So you see…I didn't become a wrestler for the fame, the money, or even for the championships. I did this for the thrill of being in front of people…to prove that I didn't need a safe job to be successful. I became a wrestler for myself, to prove that I could still follow traditions while also still being who I wanted to be. In the end, I became the Chaotic Nightmare…a Queen of Chaos."
Zara smirked as she waved at the camera before leaning over to shut it off, effectively ending the live stream.
