When creating a wrestler, most feds require you to select what wrestling style they use. There are six commonly used classes of wrestling styles. Plus, others that are either sub-divisions of the six or hybrids of two or more of the six basic ones.
Technical- Technical wrestlers use higher level grappling moves. Technicians know reversals and counters. They focus on the basics and are rarely fooled by technique.
Brawler- Brawlers are strikers. They use punches and kicks to weaken the opponents. They prefer the knockout to the submission or the pin.
Powerhouse- Powerhouses carry opponents and utilize power slams. They dominate matches through raw strength. Displays of their strength often get positive responses from the crowd and are usually hard to scout by other wrestlers.
Dirty- Evil tactics and cheats are the tools of the Dirty Fighter. They uselow blows, foreign objects, and illegal moves to get the job done when the ref is getting distracted or knocked down.
Hardcore- Hardcore wrestlers thrive on the extreme. Hardcore, ladder and no DQ matches are the preferred match types for Hardcore wrestlers. They take extreme bumps and use extreme weapons like bats, tables, barbed wire and thumb tacks.
Highflyer- High Flyers use aerial moves in their offense. Usually smaller and lighter weight, they are speedy risk-takers with heart and endurance. A highflyer is a match of the ring, the ropes, the turnbuckles, the apron, and the air.
All-Arounders
Although most wrestlers fit into one of the first six base styles, there is a seventh that is less specific. The All-Rounder has developed their skills evenly, they are decent wrestlers in all areas but master of none choosing instead to dabble equally among the various styles of wrestling.
Sub-classes
Some handlers may want to be a hybrid of the first six basic wrestling styles. The most common sub-classes are Lucha Libre, Strong Style, King’s Road, European, MMA, Sumo, etc. While using one of these classes can inject flavor into the character, it also puts them inside a box that limits their move set. Just something to think about.
