July 3rd - Champions Advantage Performance Center - Vero Beach Florida - 6pm
The CAPC ran an untelevised exhibition event in Vero Beach, FL on Sunday night for the graduation of its Spring 2022 class. The event was headlined by a mix-gender triple threat match between student Riley Heart, student Ghost Mountain, and coach Bert McAlroy. The event was the final exam for students and was an opportunity for them to show off what they've learned in the last 3 months. What happened at the event? Were there any surprises? Just how good is the talent coming out of this performance center? Find out now with this recap of the July 3 celebration.
Match 1 of 9 (Opening Match) - Jacoby Spencer (coach) vs. Jasmine Alexis Rizzo (student)
Result: Jasmine Alexis Rizzo def. Jacoby Spencer via pinfall
Grade: B
Top Moment: Spencer and Rizzo traded some offense early on, but Spencer dominated the late match until Rizzo won with a sneaky backslide pin.
Match 2 of 9 - Marisol Vilaro (coach) vs. Brittany Bond (student)
Result: Marisol Vilaro def. Brittany Bond via disqualification
Grade: C
Top Moment: Vilaro and Bond worked the crowd well, selling their knockout figures, but the inexperienced ringwork of Bond got her in deep trouble. She resorted to dirty tactics hitting Vilaro in the face with a steel chair to earn the DQ.
Match 3 of 9 - Maverick Sands (student) & Bitchface Malone (student) vs. Dr. Runa Olsen (coach) & Kieran Quinn (guest coach)
Result: Dr. Runa Olsen def. Bitchface Malone via pinfall
Grade: B
Top Moment: Guest Coach Kieran Quinn put on an aerial display with Maverick Sands, trading high spots to the center of the ring. Olsen and Quinn did some 2 on 1 offense to seal the deal after a missed high spot to the apron took Sands out of the match.
Match 4 of 9 - Candi Bratton (coach) vs. Cassie Wolf (student)
Result: Cassie Wolf def. Candi Bratton via submission
Grade: A
Top Moment: Candi Bratton was her typical self, taunting the rookie, and working the crowd. But it was Wolf who had the last laugh in the end as she caught Bratton in a nasty neck crank submission.
Match 5 of 9 - Larry Gowan (coach) vs. Drew Peacock (student)
Result: Larry Gowan def. Drew Peacock
Grade: C
Top Moment: Gowan put on a wrestling clinic in who surmounting to a squash match. Word is that Peacock was a little too braggadocios in the locker room prior to the match and was humbled by the experience.
Match 6 of 9 - (Trios Match) - Jaxton Matthews (student), Samantha Dominik (student), Tyler Cruz (student) vs. Jessica Anderson (student), Daniel Wolf (student), & Melody Slayton (student)
Result: Jaxton Matthews def. Melody Slayton via pinfall
Grade: C
Top Moment: This trios match of CAPC students was entertaining to watch for the friends and family in attendance, but without a ring general there to direct the action, the match flow didn't seem to work well and the execution was sloppy. The best spot of the match was the triple planchas over the top rop by the team of Matthew, Dominik, and Cruz. Matthews was the best student in this bout, and sealed the victory with a well executed sit out powerbomb combination.
Match 7 of 9 - Sabrina Baker (coach) vs. Miki Hasegawa (student)
Result: Time Limit Draw
Grade: B
Top Moment: This one was an absolute war. Hasegawa proved to be a star student as she and Baker took this one to the time limit. The best spot of the match being a series of dueling moonsaults from the springboard, top rope, second rope, and standing positions.
Match 8 of 9 - (Tag Match) - Holden Ross (coach) & Buster Gloves (coach) vs. Neckbone Drexler (student) and Napalm Jones (student)
Result: Holden Ross def. Napalm Jones via pinfall
Grade: B
Top Moment: Ross and Gloves dominated this match with Ross appearing absolutely unstoppable. Gloves started the match with Drexler exchanging in some impressive chain wrestling, but Ross and Jones delivered the shining moment after Ross took offense to an accidental punch to the back of the head by Jones. Ross finished off Jones with a second rope gonzo bomb.
Match 9 of 9 - (Main Event Triple Threat) - Riley Heart (student) vs. Ghost Mountain (student) vs. Bert McAlroy (coach)- in Bert's first match in 6 months.
Result: Riley Heart def. Ghost Mountain via pinfall
Grade: A
Top Moment: The big story of the match was the in-ring return of Coach Bert McAlroy, who was finally cleared to compete by his medical team. However, he seemed to take a back seat in the match, playing defense instead of carelessly throwing his body around the ring. McAlroy kept the crowd involved, by rolling out of the ring and eating their popcorn, while Heart and Mountain put on an offensive show. McAlroy snuck back in the ring to steal a pin at the end of the match, but was thwarted by Ghost Mountain who caught him with a couple big boots for the trouble. Bert rolled out of the ring to recover and Heart finished off Mountain with a low blow and a roundhouse kick to snag the heelish W.
